Tour Overview

We’ll start the morning in a local market where you’ll be the only tourists shopping alongside moms and sous chefs. We’ll sample several fresh fruits, snacks, and other tasty wares we’ll find on the day. Peru is one of the world’s most bio-diverse countries and a producer of an exotic array of the jungle, highland, and coastal foods. The local market will whet your appetite for the day. 

Then we’ll walk in Lima’s historic center, checking out the Plaza Mayor, Cathedral, the Archbishop’s residence, the Presidential Palace, the bright-yellow Franciscan church, and other historical buildings beautifully rich in architecture to learn more about Lima’s art history. From there, we’ll sample a variety of our proudly Peruvian spirit; “Pisco Sour”. Afterward, we’ll take a break to enjoy Peru’s flagship dish: ceviche. These sublime fish and seafood cocktails, gently marinated in fresh lime juice, are a Lima staple. On top of that tasting other mind-bogglingly Peruvian food options & desserts whose fresh aroma will make your mouth water.

You’ll experience the sights and sounds of the city as you travel on foot and by car to find these hidden places. Eat enough samples to fill you for the day (at least!) and learn about Peruvian culture and cuisine in the process.

No worries! We’ve got you covered if there are any changes to your trip to Peru: it’s always possible to put your booking on hold (bookings never expire) or reschedule your new travel dates. We also offer full refunds if you cancel your booking more than 24 hours prior to your tour 🙂 All bookings canceled within 24 hours of the tour departure are not refundable.

DO YOU ACCOMMODATE FOOD ALLERGIES AND SPECIAL DIETS?

Absolutely! Vegetarians, lactose-free guests and other special requests can be accommodated. We ask that you please notify us of any dietary restrictions at the time of booking as we coordinate all alternative menus in advance.

DOES THE PRICE INCLUDE THE FOOD AND DRINKS?

Yes, the price includes all food and drink in the program, entrance fees and tips at the restaurants.  If you love the culinary experience, tips for our guides are not included so feel free to show your appreciation – they will be grateful!

HOW CAN I CHECK AVAILABILITY?

Our tours depart every day of the year except on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. You can check real-time availability for the tours up until 24 hours before departures. For last minute bookings, please give us a call for availability +51 958 313 939. ​

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM NUMBER OF PASSENGERS

We do require a two-person minimum to open a new group for each food tour. We like to keep our groups below 6 people. Of course, larger groups and special events are welcome and will be arranged separately.

HOW MUCH FOOD DO WE EAT ON THE FOOD TASTING TOURS?

We recommend not eating anything other than a light snack before our experiences. You will have the opportunity to taste foods from different specialty shops, ethnic eateries and restaurants. It’s more than enough food for a hearty lunch. Our promise to you is that your bellies are full by the end of the food tour.

Amazing mother/daughter trip of Peru We had an amazing Peru trip with Arturo of Lima Tasty Tours. Arturo was the guide for my family 11 years ago. When my 80 year old mom wanted to see Machu Picchu I reached out to Arturo to plan a trip for the two of us so we could go at our own pace.He planned an outstanding trip to Ollantaytambo, Maras, Morray, Pisac, Machu Picchu, Cusco, and ending with a Lima city and food tour, and stay overlooking the ocean. He was so accommodating when selecting hotels to stay at and really listened to our budget and what types of places we wanted to stay. All hotels booked were great. Everyone was incredibly hospitable. We had comfortable beds, excellent breakfasts, and very friendly staff.Arturo was with us the entire trip and is a great ambassador for his country. He has a deep knowledge of Peru’s history and is full of great information about the state of the country currently. In addition, we had an amazing driver and guide in the Sacred Valley, Isaac. He, like Arturo, has a wealth of information about Peru and many personal experiences with farming, hiking the Inca trail, etc. We felt in good hands with Isaac driving and loved his enthusiasm. We also had an outstanding guide, Hector, in Machu Picchu. All three were incredibly patient and helpful with making sure my mom was able to fully enjoy all the sights at a pace that worked for her and were always next to her if she needed assistance climbing stairs that didn’t have a railing. They also helped us connect with locals to better experience their way of life. Food was delicious everywhere we went. It really helps that Arturo is a foodie. We tried everything from guinea pig, alpaca, chicken, seafood, potatoes (they have 100s of different types), super fresh fruit and homemade fresh juices, to ceviche, corn beer (Chicha), and Pisco Sours. Yum Yum Yum!I cannot say enough good things about Arturo and our trip. We felt completely safe and thoroughly enjoyed every part of the trip. He is an honorable man, with a great sense of humor, and a great love for his family and country. Note: 11 years ago, he was great with our children also. They were 8, 11, and 14 at that time. He felt like a close extension of our family.

Perfect! This tour was one of our favorites in a twenty four day visit to South America. Lima was spectacular and Arturo was the best! We ate great food and learned so much about Lima in a short walking tour around the city. He was so funny and entertaining. His knowledge and love of Lima was abundantly clear. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to learned about a culture and their food.

An Enlightening Intro to Peruvian Food and Culture Did the Lima market food tour with my partner and her parents, and it was an incredible experience. Arturo was a funny, kind, incredibly well-informed guide who seemed to have friends everywhere we went. He led us on a fascinating tour of a local market, showing us local soups, sandwiches, sweets, and — the highlight — exotic fruit from across Peru, which we stood and sampled for maybe half an hour. All of them were like nothing I’ve ever had. Then he took us to Lima Centro, where we met up with another guide, Julio, who told us about the history and architecture of Lima, happily answering our many questions. The tour concluded with a leisurely lunch at a local spot, where Arturo and Julio ordered us a mess of delights: ceviche, rice with duck, a stewed goat dish, potato fritters, and some of the best orange juice I’ve ever had. All in all, a perfect first day in Lima and Peru. I’d recommend this tour to anyone, as long as you’re hungry and curious.

Great food, great stories! Hands down, one of the best experiences we've had in Peru! Sheyla went out of her way to give us an immersive experience 🙂 We absolutely loved walking around among the locals in the market trying different foods and hearing the story behind every dish. Sheyla also bought lots of diffferent fruit for us to try and took us to a tiny local restaurant we would have never known to go to ourselves, where we had some of the best dishes we had in Lima. Make sure you go on an empty stomach! Highly recommended!!
